Karim Faizi serves as the head coach of Afghanistan Snowboard and has been a foundational figure in the development of snowboarding in the country. As the first official coach, Karim brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to the sport. He studied snowboarding professionally in Austria for three years under the guidance of experienced German instructors, gaining advanced skills and a deep understanding of the sport. In January 2018, he returned to Afghanistan with a clear purpose: to share his expertise and help build a strong foundation for snowboarding in his homeland.
Since joining the Afghanistan Snowboard in 2018, Karim has been instrumental in training and mentoring young athletes across the country. His work directly supports the organization’s goals of youth empowerment, athletic development, and creating equal opportunities for all. He is deeply committed to helping Afghan youth discover their potential through sport, and he believes snowboarding can be a powerful tool for unity, resilience, and hope.
Beyond snowboarding, Karim is also a skilled boxer, having started the sport at age 12. He competed in 16 amateur and national boxing matches in Germany. He is also a qualified electrical engineer and an expert in PVC windows, doors, and glass systems—demonstrating his commitment to lifelong learning and hard work in multiple fields.
Karim continues to inspire and lead by example, working alongside Afghanistan Snowboard to grow the sport and support the next generation of Afghan champions. His passion, professionalism, and vision make him an essential part of the Federation’s journey toward a stronger, more inclusive sporting future.
